Debunking imposter syndrome

On the very first day of my project I found myself sitting at the board room table in a meeting with the CEO of a multi-billion dollar company. As a law student with no background in commerce or business, I spent the entire time worried someone would ask me a question that would expose the fact that I had no idea what was going on. Fast forward three weeks into the internship, and I was confidently preparing and running meetings and workshops with executives who had 30+ years of experience. The dynamic and fast-paced nature of McKinsey gave me an adrenaline rush I had never experienced in the workplace. Being in the deep end and a full-fledged member of the team forced me to perform, and the support of my teammates and mentors helped me exceed my own expectations. It gave me the confidence to engage with senior clients and helped me leave that imposter syndrome far behind.
